October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. So many in the community have been touched by breast cancer, we feel it is very important for all of us to recognize the importance of education and awareness.
Here are just a few ways you can help increase awareness:
Screening, Access & Treatment
Make sure you are seeing your doctor and scheduling your mammogram. Reach out to anyone you know that should be getting screened and be sure they are making their appointment.
Education
Use online resources to learn how many women and their families are affected by breast cancer. Learn about research, treatments and what you can do, then spread what you’ve learned to others to help increase awareness.
Support
There are lots of ways to support awareness. You can make donations to local or national organizations. You can volunteer your time at clinics and other venues. Participating in local runs or walks helps support awareness, research and finding cures. And of course, proudly wear pink this month!
